Privacy Policy

Overview

HueDiary ("we", "our", or "the app") is a personal mood journaling app for iOS that lets you record your daily mood through colors. We designed HueDiary with privacy as a foundational principle — your mood records, notes, and personal expressions stay on your device.

What We Don't Collect

HueDiary does not collect, transmit, or store on any server:

• Your mood records or color selections
• Personal notes or journal entries
• Photos or any media
• Location data
• Contact lists or address book
• Behavioral analytics or usage tracking
• Device identifiers for advertising purposes

Local Storage

All data generated by your use of HueDiary — including daily mood entries, notes, the start date of your journaling, and app preferences — is stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage (UserDefaults and the app sandbox). This data is not accessible to us and is not synced or backed up to any external server we operate.

If you delete the app, this local data is removed by iOS along with the app.

Sign in with Apple

HueDiary uses Sign in with Apple for optional account creation. When you choose to sign in, Apple may share with us:

• A unique Apple user identifier (a string assigned by Apple, not your Apple ID)
• Your name, only if you choose to share it
• An email address — either your real email or a private relay address that Apple generates for you

These values are stored locally on your device (in UserDefaults) and are used solely to identify you across app launches. We do not transmit this information to any external server, and we do not use it for marketing or analytics.

Subscriptions & In-App Purchases

HueDiary offers an optional subscription. All subscription processing — payment, billing, renewal, and cancellation — is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store and the StoreKit framework. We do not receive or process your payment information.

HueDiary stores the following subscription-related values locally on your device only:

• Whether you consented to a free trial
• The trial start date
• The plan identifier and trial duration

Care Email Feature

HueDiary includes an optional feature that helps you reach out to a trusted contact when you've been logging negative moods for several consecutive days. This feature works as follows:

• You manually enter a contact's email address in the app's settings. This email is stored only on your device.
• When the trigger condition is met (consecutive days of negative moods), the app prepares a draft email and presents it to you using iOS's built-in mail composer (MFMailComposeViewController).
• HueDiary does not send any email. The email is sent by your own iOS Mail app, only after you tap "Send" yourself.
• We never see, transmit, or store the contact's email address or the email content.

Permissions

HueDiary may request the following iOS permissions, only when needed for specific features:

• Notifications — to send you a gentle daily reminder to record your mood, if you enable reminders. You can disable this anytime in iOS Settings → Notifications → HueDiary.

HueDiary does not request access to your camera, photo library, microphone, contacts, calendar, or location.

Children's Privacy

HueDiary is designed to be safe for users of all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because we don't operate any servers that receive personal data, no information about any user — child or adult — is transmitted to us.

Third-Party Services

HueDiary does not embed any third-party SDKs for analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or attribution. The only Apple-provided services we use are Sign in with Apple and StoreKit (for subscriptions), both of which are governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, when appropriate, surface the change inside the app. Your continued use of the app after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
